2010 Exhibition : Shifted Perspectives

Shifted Perspectives, has been influenced by the natural beauty of the New Zealand environment – looking at nature with a different set of eyes, not accepting the obvious but extending the boundaries.

This exhibition of paintings has been inspired by the rock formations, that are found at the southern end of Omaha Beach, New Zealand. Flat gridded rocks that have an intricate network of patterns running through them, where the tidal ocean has carved pathways for the water. The surfaces have geometric designs, irregular shapes and spaces. These shallow, wet surfaces are the inspiration for these works.

Representing my work in an abstract contemporary form has enabled me to be more expressive and free, making my work appear more fluid and creating movement.

Changing my perspective, has enabled me to see such beauty in the most simplest form.
